Intelligent mobility

Intelligent mobility and geospatial information will be an essential component to support the delivery of new services and solutions.

Multi-modal transport, Mobility-as-a-Service and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) will shape how the world moves people and goods in the future. Intelligent mobility and geospatial information will be an essential component to support the delivery of new services and solutions.

Ordnance Survey (OS) is helping to understand how to enable an environment for future connected mobility solutions.

We are developing processes, platforms and standards that will help deliver the societal and economic benefits of intelligent mobility, and are helping to shape the national data infrastructure that will support the UK’s ambitions to be a world-class test centre for accelerating Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) testing programmes, using our geospatial expertise.

Our work

"“The amount of data available is exploding; data from mobile phones, smart tickets, CCTV cameras, engine-performance systems and from social media can be used by control systems in traffic lights, emergency services, and for making long-term decisions about routes and demand.”"
Miranda Sharp, head of innovation and outreach, Ordnance Survey.
